Under the sponsorship of the German
Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the
independent "Cambodian Journalist
Club" / CCJ was established in
October, 2000.
Members of CCJ are the mixture of staff
from different media organisations such
as independent journalists, wire services
(ap, afp, reuters ...) and newspapers
(ruling party, opposition party ...).
In 2002, under co-funded support of the
European Commission (80%) and the Konrad
Adenauer Foundation (20%) a project
called "Local Democracy
Promotion" was set in motion.
In October 2002, a media extension
project, which was component of local
democracy promotion, started; in
September 2005, it will be extended for
another 5 months.
The 3-year project is aimed at increasing
both print and broadcast media in
provinces throughout the country.
CCJ is prepared to support the
establishment of either:
- business radio station<br>
- non-profit radio station<br>
- local community radio station |
