THE PLOT

Clarissa
opens another door, and then behind a
curtain she is suddenly confronted with
uniformed men ... a secret meeting of, as it
turns out, former Scotch Guards. The only lady
among them is Scottish as well. Clarissa knows
because she recognises her immediately from
"One Foot in the Grave", one of her
favourite TV-serials:

is Lance Corporal Anthony Austin, the very same
Chelsea pensioner whom Clarissa had met at the
Royal Hospital the one who had been not
too surprised when Gertrud and Lainet had told
him about the circumstances of his comrade's
death close to the "Anchor & Hope"
along the river Lea.
Of course, he recognises her too ... |
