LOCAL RADIO IN A CAMBODIAN
CONTEXT
|
|
|
Excerpt from a paper, submitted by student Mom C.
Soleil:
Close proximity of the issues touched must be
guaranteed. That is, the broadcast has to relate
to the daily life of the people it targets tomake
them stay tuned as well as to excite them. Here
it does not mean that only local news or issues
are broadcast. Other pieces of
relevantinformation that may have impacts on the
focused listeners are also touched. Nevertheless,
the information of this type exists in
smallerproportion compared to the one which
occurs locally.
To make it more impressive to the target
listeners, the talent pool for the radio must be
primarily drawn from the community itself. In
sodoing, listeners will find the radio more
credible and give more support. They are
listening to their fellow province-men.
Furthermore, this talent pool possesses a good
grasp of the common situation in their community.
Making the medium a two-way communication tool is
another approach that will not only enable it to
get frequent feedback for the effectiveness of
its broadcast but also encourage the
participation of the people in the community. The
intimate friendship between the radio and
listeners can be brought about through this
approach, specifically amongst radio maniacs. |
