Phil Twyford, Oxfam's international advocacy
director, was blunt: "They're offering
peanuts to Africa - and repackaged peanuts at
that. The thing that is most disappointing is
that the leaders have spent the last year talking
up this event as the moment they were going to
deliver for Africa."
"Wir sind
extrem enttäuscht", erklärte Phil Twyford,
Sprecher der Nichtregierungsorganisation Oxfam in
Calgary. Zwar sei die Entwicklungshilfe auf dem
Weltwirtschaftsgipfel in Kananaskis so präsent
wie nie gewesen. "Am Ende sind aber nur
Peanuts herausgekommen."

The
G8 soccer team - Oxfam Canada volunteers wearing
enormous fibreglass heads of the G8 leaders and a
G8 nations soccer uniform - were again yellow
carded by Africa referee Chaka Mwondela, an Oxfam
partner from Zambia, for failing to play fair for
Africa.
Promises from the world's richest nations to the
poorest continent prompt hope from African
leaders, but criticism from aid agencies.
Beim Weltwirtschaftsgipfel
im kanadischen Kananaskis beschlossen die Staats-
und Regierungschefs der acht führenden
Industrienationen und Russlands (G8), mindestens
sechs Milliarden Dollar mehr als bisher für
Afrika bereit zu stellen. Fest zugesagt wird dies
Summe allerdings nicht. Die afrikanischen Länder
müssen im Gegenzug Eigenanstrengungen zur
Besserung ihrer Lage unternehmen. Korruption,
Missmanagement und Mittelverschwendung sollen sie
den Kampf ansagen.
Entwicklungshelfer kritisierten den
Afrika-Aktionsplan der G-8-Staaten als
"heiße Luft".
